South Eastern Arizona

We spent quite a bit of time traveling around south-east Arizona as there is lots to see there.  One of the most geologically interesting places we visited was the Chiricahua National Monument.  This is one of the 'sky islands' - a mountainous area surrounded by wide basins.  The rocks there are rhyolite tuffs (ash) that have eroded into interesting pillars.
